Pedodontics (Pediatric Dentistry)
In our clinical practice, pedodontics is our specialty that follows the healthy development of primary and young permanent teeth in children aged 0-13 from birth and includes preventive and therapeutic dental applications. Oral and dental health in early childhood forms the foundation of the jaw and tooth anatomy that will develop later in life.
Our aim is to prevent the development of fear of dentists (dental phobia) in children, establish a positive communication and trust environment in our clinic, and at the same time put the principles of preventive dentistry into practice by instilling proper oral hygiene habits.
In Which Clinical Conditions Do We Apply It?
In restorative treatments of primary and young permanent tooth decay (fillings, pulpotomy, pediatric root canal treatment),
In "space maintainer" (fixed/removable) applications for early loss of primary teeth, in order to prevent adjacent teeth from drifting into the space and the permanent tooth coming from underneath from remaining impacted,
In professional "topical fluoride" applications to strengthen enamel structure and increase resistance to decay,
In preventive "fissure sealant" treatments that prevent food accumulation by sealing the deep grooves on the chewing surfaces of molars,
In the emergency clinical management of tooth fractures, displacements, or tooth loss resulting from trauma such as falls or impacts.
What Are the Clinical Advantages?
Natural Guidance and Development Monitoring: Primary teeth are natural guides for the permanent teeth beneath them. Primary teeth that are not lost prematurely help prevent complex orthodontic anomalies that may develop later on.
Pedagogical Approach: With behavior guidance techniques and clinical approaches suited to child psychology, treatments are completed comfortably and without stress.
Preventive Focus: Thanks to preventive protocols applied before cavities develop, children’s oral health is biologically protected from the very beginning.
The success of pedodontic treatments depends directly on periodic clinical check-ups starting at an early age (every 6 months), the family’s participation in home hygiene monitoring, and the healthy communication bond between the dentist and the child.
